Our Way to High Performance

At ACS, we rely on our committed team and high performing culture to enhance our ability to create meaningful impact for those we serve, including each other.

Our organizational culture is driven by behaviors we define as the twelve “ACS Fundamentals.”

1. Have an ownership mentality

Find ways to serve the team by having an enterprise-wide perspective. Inspire others by genuine enthusiasm and keeping things fun. We’re all responsible for and benefit from our culture, so treasure and promote our image and reputation.

Be entrepreneurial

2. Embrace change

Regularly evaluate every aspect of your job to find ways to improve. Guard against complacency, be committed to accepting challenges, especially when this takes you outside of your comfort zone. Accept that what got us here is not the same as what will get us to the next level.

Be innovative

3. Speak responsibly, listen generously

Communicate professionally and take responsibility for what people hear by ensuring your message is received as intended. Be willing to have difficult conversations, respectfully. Be present and engaged by listening with care and empathy.

Communicate effectively

#4 Get clear on expectations

Prevent misunderstandings by discussing expectations upfront. Ask others to repeat and confirm their comprehension of expectations to ensure assigned tasks and accountabilities are mutually understood. To avoid confusion, on focus on related topics.

Be in sync

5. Respond to challenges

Step up and volunteer by putting in the effort to effectively work as a team. Practice blameless problem solving by not pointing fingers when there are complications. Identify lessons learned and improve our processes, so we do not make the same mistake twice.

Be a team player

6. Show meaningful appreciation

Regularly extend genuine acknowledgement and appreciation in all things large and small. Celebrate and communicate successes across the organization. Being acknowledged for a task well done is meaningful; being recognized for your character is lasting.

Be thankful

7. Make quality personal

Demonstrate a passion for excellence and take pride in everything you do. Never settle for mediocrity by challenging yourself to continuously improve. Honestly evaluate your work by asking yourself, “did I do my best?”

Commit to improve

8. Plan and anticipate

Identify the objectives needed to accomplish your goals. Careful analysis and planning will help you prepare for plausible outcomes. When planning, collaborate with others, research available resources to avoid redundancy.

Prepare for contingencies

9. Lead by example

Do the right thing in every action, decision, and behavior; especially when no one is looking. The best way to grow yourself and influence others is through your behavior and your actions. When things do not go as planned, take responsibility both formally and informally.

Set the bar

#10 Honor commitments

Do what you say you are going to do when you say you are going to do it. This includes being on time for all phone calls, appointments, meetings and promises. If a commitment can’t be fulfilled, notify others immediately and agree on a new deliverable to be honored.

Keep your promises

11. Walk in your customers’ shoes

The better you understand your internal and external customers, the more effectively you can anticipate their expectations. Understand your customers’ world through their perspective. Identify how their needs and challenges impact their decisions.

Know your customers

12. Deliver celebrity service

To create memorable experiences, provide a consistent customized service for internal and external customers. Go above and beyond to perform simple acts that result in a “WOW” factor that creates raving fans. Establish loyalty by treating customers as valued partners.
