Adaptive Construction Solutions to Launch National Apprenticeship Initiative to Build the Skilled Workforce for AI Factories in collaboration with NVIDIA

Leading EPC and contractor firms to hire and enroll 10,000 new apprentices, scaling a talent pipeline for critical trades powering America’s AI and electrification buildout.

HOUSTON, TEXAS (March 16, 2026) – Adaptive Construction Solutions, Inc. (ACS) today announced it will launch a series of Registered Apprenticeships, registered by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), and designed to rapidly expand America’s skilled workforce needed to buildout the Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure including the energy infrastructure required to power it. In collaboration with NVIDIA, the initiative brings together technology, workforce development, and major engineering and construction employers to address accelerating demand for electricians, HVAC technicians, pipefitters, ironworkers, welders, system installers, and other high demand occupations that underpin the expansion of our nation’s digital and energy capacity.

The urgency is clear. According to the US DOL’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), overall employment in construction and extraction occupations is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2024 to 2034.  About 649,360 openings are projected each year, on average, across these occupations due to employment growth and the need to replace workers who leave the occupations permanently.1 Additionally, during this same period, nearly one-fifth of the US construction workforce is over 55 and are expected to retire, further exacerbating workforce challenges.

Meeting the moment: a scaled pathway into high-demand careers

This initiative will establish and expand talent development and apprenticeship pathways, in partnership with federal and state workforce agencies, that combine structured “paid” on-the-job learning with related instruction, leading to portable, industry-recognized credentials. By utilizing the registered apprenticeship model, this approach is designed to shorten time-to-competency while improving job quality, occupational safety, and employee retention, especially for critical-trade roles supporting:

  • AI data center construction, fit-out, commissioning, and operations
  • Substations, transmission and distribution upgrades, and grid interconnections
  • Power generation and industrial power systems supporting data center loads

Support the industry: what each partner brings

NVIDIA brings domain technology, curriculum support, and ecosystem coordination to help employers standardize training for the modern AI infrastructure era. NVIDIA will provide connections between employers and registered apprenticeship providers, while offering guidance on data center physical infrastructure needs, accelerated computing fundamentals for “AI factory” operations, and digital tools to improve training effectiveness and safety.

ACS will support employers in developing, launching, and expanding registered apprenticeship programs through a combination of technical assistance, program delivery, and administration and compliance support. As the nation’s largest apprenticeship intermediary, ACS has a long history of serving veterans and others seeking access to economic opportunities, noting its consortium of partners source tens of thousands of veterans and other job seekers annually and is consistently recognized for being one of the largest registered apprenticeships in the nation, serving veterans.

Targeted outcomes: delivering the workforce capacity

Both NVIDIA and ACS are engaged with major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) employers who are committed to rapidly scale registered apprenticeship opportunities to add 10,000 new apprentices in occupations directly tied to AI-driven infrastructure and its related energy demand.Dozens of businesses currently partnering with ACS are committed to hiring hundreds of new apprentices to support the construction of AI-related infrastructure. These companies include No Bull Energy, Aerotek, Inc., Saulsbury Industries, Inc., and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., resulting in thousands of new apprentices, creating one of the largest coordinated registered apprenticeship development efforts in the nation.

“Employers are the true driving force of workforce transformation,” said ACS president and founder Nicholas Morgan. “By prioritizing their real-world needs, registered apprenticeships offer flexible solutions that accelerate skill delivery, improve employee retention and safety, and provide the skilled talent America’s infrastructure buildout demands.”

Program design: leverage the registered apprenticeship model

Participating employers will implement a common registered apprenticeship blueprint, adaptable by region and trade, designed to deliver:

  • Faster ramp into mission-critical roles through structured skill progression
  • Higher retention via paid learning pathways and clear wage progression
  • Improved safety and productivity through standardized training and jobsite readiness
  • Expanded access for veterans and transitioning service members

The initiative will also align with the continued national growth of registered apprenticeship participation contributing to the Administration’s “America’s Talent Strategy“ and its goal of reaching and surpassing 1 million active apprentices nationwide. According to Congressional Research Service reporting, in FY2024, the nation reached approximately 680,000 active apprentices across the registered apprenticeship system.
